I
graduated from the University of Toronto in 1990 with a
four year honours degree in English. After leaving university,
I worked as an advertising copywriter and was soon able
to use my copywriting experience to start my own consulting
company. I spent many years helping businesses across Canada
computerize their operations and advertise their products
and services on the web.
Search
engine consulting work was in high demand at the time and
I was very good at getting web sites into the top ranked
search engines. It was only after I had a dispute with a
major hotel chain (where I felt that my complaint was being
ignored) that I decided to "change sides" and
use my search engine algorithms to help consumers rather
than businesses. I decided created a web site (TheSqueakyWheel.com)
that would allow consumers to type their complaints into
an on-line form and have the complaints instantly turned
into web pages that were automatically submitted to the
largest Internet search engines. At $5 per complaint page
it wasn't nearly as lucrative as my consulting business
- but knowing that I was making a difference in the lives
of consumers across the world (not just Canada) has brought
its own rewards.
TheSqueakyWheel.com
has been running since the late 1990's and has become one
of the best know complaint sites on the Internet. Unlike
other sites, the focus of TheSqueakyWheel.com has always
been on resolving complaints and I’m certain that
our success rate is higher than any other comparable complaint
site on the Internet.
Currently,
I spend most of my time writing, creating new web sites,
and helping corporations and local government offices reduce
their dependence on paper (by implementing electronic document
management systems).
My
most recent book - a children's picture book - is called
"Oh
Me, Oh My!" and is available from Amazon.com.
My most recent website is called ViewComplaints.com
and has been designed to help consumers avoid bad companies
and products.
I
wish you all the best of luck in resolving your complaints.
